Pediatrician Sick Visits/Virtual Visits
At GetzWell we offer same day appointments in both our locations and virtual/telemedicine in lieu of office visits when appropriate and safe. In some cases we may be able to accommodate house calls for acute needs.
We do everything possible to prevent the inconvenience and stress of a visit to the emergency room by scheduling same day appointments if your child is suffering from, for example:
- Persistent sore throat, severe headache, abdominal pain
- Earache or discharge from the ear
- Cough, wheezing or other respiratory challenges
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea
- Thick eye discharge and/or red eyes
- Stiff neck
- Any illness that worsens or goes on for more than three days
- Persistent fever, particularly lasting 3 days or longer

Virtual Visits may be an option for the following:
- Urgent advice requests that require extensive triage, treatment plan updates, laboratory orders, prescriptions or referrals
- Non-urgent consultation requests for existing or new symptoms that do not require a face-to-face evaluation (such as rash or other skin complaints, behavioral or mood issues, parenting questions, sleep problems, and more)
- Any symptom or topic that requires further evaluation, additional lab testing, changes to treatment plans, or new prescriptions
- Frequent or lengthy emails with multiple questions between our providers and parents
- Parental concerns that require a discussion for the purposes of a comprehensive understanding and recommendations
- Review of labs

In the event that a same day appointment is determined not to be medically necessary, we will appoint you with a provider the following day.
As a precaution during this COVID era, GetzWell may require a provider to first conduct a screening by phone or video in order to determine the necessity and safety of an in person versus virtual visit. We hope you understand we are keeping you and our staff as safe as possible by implementing such protocols and apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
